Pray. As a believer, I find that prayer plays a crucial role. It is like oxygen. You can’t live without it.
In the busyness of daily life, prayer becomes a place where I pause and remember that I’m not walking alone. Perhaps my current situation is the best example of it.
Just before I wrote this post, I was in a really bad mood. I felt annoyed and irritated by the situation at work. Those feeling was lingering around till I took time to worship and pray.
Therefore, I felt that today’s devotion and the haiku topic came together so perfectly.
Today’s Christian Haiku
The following Haiku is written as my personal reflection of meditating today’s bible reading, which was taken from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NASB version.
The Bible Verse
16 Rejoice always,
17 Pray without ceasing,
18 in everything give thanks;
For this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
The 1st Haiku: Pray
Face to face
Troubled, sorrow, joyful, or glad
pray without ceasing
The 2nd Haiku: Gratitude
Day and night
Rejoice always; give thanks wholeheartedly
Gratitude
The Reflection
Pray
The phrase “face to face” came to mind when I read the words “pray without ceasing”. It felt like God was inviting me to come face to face with Him. It was like God was saying whatever the season is – whether the heart is troubled, filled with sorrow, or experiencing joy and gladness – He is always there for me.
Hence, prayer is not only for difficult times. It is also for moments of gratitude and happiness. In every season of the heart, God always welcomed us into His presence.
Another thing God reminded me is that the phrase “pray without ceasing” is about a continual posture of the soul—turning to God again and again throughout the day, in every emotion and circumstance.
In this way, prayer becomes ongoing conversation with God, where we meet Him face to face with honesty, trust, and gratitude.
Gratitude
The second Christian Haiku reminded us to remember God both day and night. As mentioned in the bible that it’s His will for us to always Rejoice and Give thanks wholeheartedly.
Personally, I feel that it is only natural for us to give thanks and rejoice day and night before God. For He is worthy of it all.
Only when we take a quite moment, then, we may realize that every blessing we’ve been receiving, every breath we take, and every moment of grace in our life is sustained by His grace.
Closing Statement
I pray so all of us may continue to rejoice and pray with gratitude everyday, day and night. May all of us grow to be more aware of His grace. Amin!
Love,
Blossomshine
