Makeup Review: Silkygirl Shimmer Duo Blusher – Sunny Glow

Silky Girl is one of the most infamous drugstore brand that most Asian loves. This Malaysian Cosmetic brand has been one of the most affordable cosmetic in Indonesia. Originally, SilkyGirl sells 3 product lines:  Makeup (eyes, face, lips and nails), Fragrance and Hair Color. However, in Indonesia, they only sell makeup products, and that also minus the nails product.

So, on today’s post, I am gonna share with you my thought on their face makeup product, The Shimmer Duo Blusher. I have meaning to try this on for a while, but only now I really try it out. I got it at Guardian The Breeze, BSD City when it was on sale.

The product

The Shimmer Duo Blusher pairs matte and shimmer shades to illuminate your features. The matte blush can be used for shading and contouring, whilst the shimmer shades can be used for highlighting. When used together, you can see an instant glow on your face at once. Especially formulated for Asian skin.

Their claim:

  • Instant Glow
  • Oil-free
  • fragrance-free

The shades:

There are actually 4 shades available, however, only 3 shades are sold in Indonesia:

  • Cheeky Peach
  • Blushing Pink
  • Sunny Glow

In this post, I am discussing the Sunny Glow shade.

My thought:

The Formula

I am so sorry, but I have to disagree with their statement, because the Shimmer Duo Blusher pairs – Sunny Glow is actually not matte shimmer. The Matte shade is actually have glitters as well, not as much as the shimmer shade though, but you can see it if you look closely. At first, I thought I must have put the glitter there because I just tested the shimmer shade with my finger. However, when I checked it again at the counter, the matte blush of the Sunny Glow shade, and only the Sunny Glow shade does have some  tiny specks of glitter chunk in it.

For those of you who wants to see the ingredients:

The texture:

The texture is very fine and smooth, but powdery that it went messy on the compact when I swatched it. The only thing I like is that it is very easy to blend.

The pigmentation

Personally, I find the matte too soft to be used for contouring. It is that sheer that I have to apply about 5 – 6 times before it actually shows some pop of colors. As for the shimmer, it works well as highlighter, giving a healthy glow on the face.

Staying Power

You may need to carry this blush around for touch up, because it only last up to 3 – 4 hours only.

The packaging

I don’t know what you girls think, but I personally find the packaging is cute. It’s packaged in a chubby plastic compact. The size is perfect for travelling. It comes with a small finely soft brush underneath the blush. Sadly, it does not come with mirror.

The Price

Personally, I think the normal price is quite expensive, i.e. Rp 59,500.- if we compare it with the quality we get. Lucky me to get it on special, Rp 21,800 at Guardian The Breeze.  However, some shops sell it for even more pricey.

The Shop

Honestly, i won’t really recommend this product to you, but If you are afraid to look “too much”, or looking for a freshly blushing cheek, this is the perfect product for you.

You can get this product almost everywhere you go. Here is the store location that SilkyGirl has listed (click here), also some other stores that not mentioned on their list:
