I discovered this Ovale Micellar Cleansing Water two weeks ago at the Beauty Festival Asia 2017. I saw a huge display of it at their booth when I was browsing around the BFA vendors. Then the beauty adviser was offering me to try it out. Feeling happy with the tester, I bought Micellar Water limited edition packaged. Came in a medium size broken white and pink theme pouch, the packaged filled with a full size Ovale Micellar Cleansing Water, a travel size Ovale Cleansing Micellar Water, an Ovale Avocado Facial Mask and a sample of Ovale Face Paper.
Ovale Micellar Cleansing Water
Just like other micellar water out there, Ovale Micellar Cleansing Water comes in two type:
- The Pink Cap – for dry and sensitive skin
- The Green Cap – for oily skin
Mine here is of course the Green Cap one, because I have oily skin.
“Ovale Micellar Cleansing Water Brightening for Acne Skin is hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested, and easy way to remove makeup, soothe and hydrate the face, eye areas and lips in 1 step without rinsing. Enriched with Magnolia Extract helps to brighten your skin and Greentea Extract as anti-oxidants for acne treatment.”
On the pouch, Ovale Beauty claimed that their micellar cleansing water can clean our face in one swipe by using hashtag #BERSIHSEKALIUSAP.
Here are the ingredients list:
- Watery texture (of course, it’s water after all)
- No Fragrance, but it has a subtle scent that you will not notice unless you stick your nose to sniff it.
- Not drying the skin
- Soothing the skin
- Does not irritating the skin
Ovale Micellar Cleansing Water Test
I felt challenged by their hashtag; so, I tested this Ovale Micellar Cleansing Water twice, under two different conditions:
On my first test, I tested it to clean the swatches of my Sailor Moon Pen Liner. To be precised, I made two lines on the back of my hand. The first line was very thin and the other was thicker. Just for your information, this Sailor Moon Pen Liner was very good. Not only it dried very quick, but it was smudged proof (let me know on the comment below if you want me to post the review). Cut the story short, I tried to clean it in one swipe, and most of the swatches were gone, especially the thin one. However, the thick swatch still left clear stain, which then was gone after the second swipe.
Second, I tested this Ovale Micellar Cleansing Water to clean a full face makeup, but minus the Concealer, Contour step and setting spray. Just so you have a clear picture, here are the list of makeup I used when I did the test:
- Face Makeup: Catrice Anti-Shine Mattifying Primer, Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation, Make Over Transluscent Loose Powder and Blush from Sephora Face Palette.
- Eyes Makeup: NYX jumbo pencil, Colour Pop single shadow, Sailor Moon Pen Liner and Misha 3D Volumising Mascara.
- Brow Makeup: SilkyGirl Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brown.
- Lip Makeup: I wore Models Prefer Lip Liner and Kylie Liquid Lipstick in Dolce K.
In short, I first tried to clean the eyes makeup first. Just like the hand swatch test, Most of the eyes makeup were gone, especially the eyeshadow. The eyeliner was leaving soft stain, but the mascara was the worst part; most of it were still there. Moving on to the brow, it also only picked up most of it. Then the face, I needed a few swipes to clean up the makeup. Last but not least, the lips. Only the lips part I could clean it in one swipe
At the end of the second test, I used 2 cotton pads for the eyes and brows, 3 cotton pads for the face, and 2 cotton pad for the lips.
To sum up my experience, the formula was as claimed by Ovale Beauty; their micellar water cleaned most of the makeup (95% cleaned) I wore today, but did not drying up my skin, nor irritating it. The extracts added did a good job in re-hydrating my skin. My skin felt alive again after I cleaned up with this Ovale Micellar Cleansing Water. It was an experienced that I did not feel from other micellar water, which a few made my skin felt poignant. At the end, my skin felt clean and fresh again to the extend I also felt awake again though it’s very late already.
I am really proud of Ovale Beauty. I know being a local beauty brand is tough, but you did it! This Micellar Cleansing Water worth every pennies. In fact, I like it better than other micellar water I have tried.
Rating: 4.5/5 (I have to minus 0.5 due to their hashtag claim #bersihsekaliusap)
Ovale Micellar Cleansing Water is packaged in a clear plastic bottle with green cap (for oily skin) and pink cap (for dry and sensitive skin). Though it’s packaged in a plastic packaging, but it does not feel cheap at all. On the front side, it is labeled with a transparent stickers with Ovale logo on the top, and Micellar Cleansing Water in the middle and the highlights of their formula.
On the back, we have the details of their claims, ingredients, how to use it, production information and expiry date.
The Store & The Price
You can get it from your nearest beauty counters like Watson and Guardian, and at your nearest Supermarket like Giant, Transmart, Hero, and Hypermart. However, you may still find it difficult to find for now. I went to Hypermart Lippo Mall Karawaci earlier today, and looked for it to check the price, but the beauty adviser said that it was not available yet.
As for the price, I bought the packaged for IDR 50,000.- at the event; so, it should cost lesser/bottle. According to the sales girl at the Beauty Festival, the big size may cost +/- IDR 45,000.- and the travel size may be priced +/- IDR 19.000,-. Let me update you with the fix price when I have found out the fix price.
So, that’s all my review for the day. I hope you all having a great reading time, and find the information useful. Don’t forget to follow me on my social media for more beauty boosts and updates.
