Hello everyone, today’s update is about my must bring holiday essentials. Before that, let me greet you Happy Idul Fitri for those who celebrate! I wish you all were having great quality times with your family and loved one.
I don’t know how it goes overseas, but in Indonesia, Idul Fitri is celebrated as National Holiday; plus, it’s also school holiday season too right now. So, throw back to holiday last week, I would like to share my Holiday Essentials from head to toe that I took with me to Puncak.
Holiday Essentials 1: Body Lotion
Although my face and hair type are oily, but my legs and arms are very dry. Therefore, Body Lotion is a must holiday essentials to bring. I have to diligently applying body lotion to keep it hydrated. I know that many people are recommending body butter for chronic dry skin issue. However, since I hate the greasy texture and it also takes longer absorption time; therefore, I stick with Body Lotion as my skin savior.
I have tried various body lotion brands. Of all brands that I have tried, there are two brands that have won over my heart – Nivea & Vaseline. Both brands have been around in the market for generations. My mom is one of them. For this holiday, I choose Vaseline Aloe Vera as my travelling buddy.
I specifically choose Vaseline Aloe Vera because the Aloe Vera extract contains in it. In short, Aloe Vera has been used for centuries to treat a variety of skin conditions such as sunburn treatment (anti-inflammatory), moisturizer, heals external wounds and reduces tans, and as anti-aging agent (anti-oxidant). It may sound ridiculous, but yes, I got sunburn in Puncak, thanks to my lil boy who can’t stop going around the garden whenever he is awake. I love how the lotion helps soothing my skin afterwards.
Holiday Essentials 2: Sun Screen
Sun screen cannot be more important than ever due to global warming issue. Whichever countries you live in, it’s important to apply sunscreen daily, especially if you are going outside. The sun will not tolerate anyone. So, as you can guess, my second must bring holiday essentials is Sun Screen.
There are two types of sunscreen: cream lotion sunscreen and spray sunscreen. I personally like and prefer the spray type best than the lotion one. It is because the spray one is easier to apply. All you have to do is spraying the sunscreen on the part of the body that you’d like to protect.
I choose Nivea instead of other brands because it does not contain the usual ingredients such as Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Avobenzone, etc. on the list.It contains newer ingredients such as Benzoate, Salicylate, Homosalate, and anything that ends with the suffix -ate.
Second, the spray has a sheer invisible mist formula with a watery consistency; therefore, it dries quicker than the lotion one; the drying time is even faster when you start rubbing it onto your body. Third, it has a good floral scent. Fourth, it has minty, tingling sensation that I found so fresh and refreshing.
Holiday Essentials 3: Micellar Water
My third holiday essentials is Micellar Water. Bioderma Sebium H2O is my Holy Grail toner and makeup remover. This micellaire water functions to live up dirt and makeup residue, and retune your face skin to its natural condition.
The good thing about this product is, firstly, it contains active ingredients that work like charm as remover without drying the skin out, while at the same time, it also limits the sebum productions. Second, it is water based; hence, this product is soap free. So, all you have to do is wet the cotton pad with the fluid, then, in a slow dabbing motion, pat gently on your face. No rinsing is required. Plus, it has a nice sweet menthol scent.
I like to use this after washing my face in the morning as a toner. At night, I use it twice, once before shower as makeup remover, and as a toner and moisturizer after shower. Whenever I do makeup review, I always have it ready by my side. So, if the cleansing wipe does not work, I will use this Bioderma Sebium H2O to clean up all residues left behind.
Holiday Essentials 4: Face Moisturizer
Even though you are on holiday, keeping your skin moisturized is a continuous routine that cannot be skipped. So, the fourth holiday essentials item that must be brought along is none other than face moisturizer. Trust me, your skin will be very grateful for this.
The product I took with me on my Puncak Trip is Gizi Super Cream Moisturizer. I first tried this product for sponsored review last year. At that time, I did not know that Gizi is a local beauty brand. After trying it for a month, I became fond with the product. The product is light for the skin indeed. I am in particular like this foam because it does not dry out the skin. For the full review, you can read it here.
So, I use it twice a day, in the morning and at night before sleeping. In between, I use Bioderma Sebium H2O to refresh the skin, such as after going out for lunch. Coz I don’t wear makeup here in Puncak; I am detoxing my face from all the cosmetics chemical. Well, since it’s holiday, think my face will thank me for giving it a break too.
Holiday Essentials 5: Facial Spray
I only have two words for this 5th holiday essentials, LOVE IT! I really can’t imagine how I am gonna survive the Indonesian constant summer heat. If you been to Indonesia, you will know what I mean. It’s summer throughout the year. Now, I miss the Melbourne winter breeze and the cool spring weather badly. It would be lovely to go there again for a few months for a change.
Oh well, back to our topic. This Evian facial spray is very useful to refresh the skin in the afternoon, especially when I feel sleepy at the office, and to do makeup – spraying on the beauty sponge to make it a little bit dump for foundation application. For further info, I also have made the full post here.
Holiday Essentials 6: Dry Shampoo
This last but not least holiday essentials that I decided to bring is Dry Shampoo. Before giving birth to my son, I never used any dry shampoo at all. Kerastase K Powder Bluff was my first one. After that, I have tried couple other brands, but this one is still my favorite so far.
Kerastase K Powder Bluff is actually An aerosol spray powder that infuses texture and body to hair; hence, it can also be used as dry shampoo. I find it really helpful and handy to use when travelling. You may say, it has become a must bring item in my bag now.
So, what makes it stand out for me, this powder bluff is not just help absorb oil from the hair, but it also infuses texture and volume to the hair. Second, I find my hair feel soft and smells nice afterwards. Third, I find no white residue, which some dry shampoo from other brands left. Fourth, it is build-able, allowing us to style the hair better. Fifth, it contains UV filter and heat protection that helps protecting the hair from sun damage. Lastly, it is formulated with anti-frizz; therefore, although I just wash my hair, I like to apply dry shampoo before living the house, because I got a frizzy hair.
So, that’s all my review for the day. I hope you all having a great reading time, and find the information useful. Don’t forget to follow me on my social media for more beauty boosts and updates.
