Milani Illuminating Face Powder [Makeup Review]

Hi ladies, Happy Valentine! To celebrate, I would like to share with you one of the most romantic makeup – Milani Illuminating Face Powder. As you can see from the picture, it looks like a bouquet of flowers! Please pardon me for the messiness, I have been owning these powders for sometimes now. I have been meaning to make a review, but guess today is the perfect time to share it. <3

The Brand

Milani Cosmetic is a US makeup brand, basing in Los Angeles, California. They are well known as cruelty-free brand. Milani does not test their products on animals, nor do they allow others to test on their behalf. Their brand is certified by both PETA and The Leaping Bunny Program (CCIC) as cruelty-free. So, if you are a vegan or looking for Halal Cosmetics, you can trust Milani Cosmetics.

I first know Milani from Beautyhaulindo 2 years ago. I saw it on their homepage under the new arrivals list. Not long after, I saw Milani Color Statement Lipstick from other beauty bloggers’ haul on Instagram Feed. Attracted with its beautiful gold packaging; plus, it got positive review too from many fellow beauty blogger; I decided to try it. Here is the link for my Milani Color Statement Lipstick review.

Milani Illuminating Face Powder

Milani Illuminating Face Powder is a designed as a multi-purpose Illuminating Face Powder. This multi-colour blush, bronzer and highlighters brings the idea of “lit from within” to the next level. You can say, it’s a 2-in-1 product. So, instead of using 2 different products, by just using 1 you get the same effect by just using 1 product.

The Shades

Milani Illuminating Face Powder comes in 3 shades:

  1. Amber Nectar – shimery Coral
  2. Hermosa Rose – shimery bronzy-brown shades
  3. Beauty’s Touch – shimery Pink

Mine here are no 1 & 3.

The Formula

Here are my thoughts of both Milani Illuminating Face Powder:

  • Powdery texture
  • Contain shimmers
  • Subtle pigmentation
  • Build-able / can build layer
  • Blend-able
  • It lasts for about 4-6 hours
  • Surprisingly it has a faint cinnamont-like scent (Subtle Fragrance); once applied, I do not smell these powders at all. You won’t notice this smell unless you stick your nose up to the compact and take a whiff.
  • It has a subtle-luminous glow finish

My Thoughts

First of all, do not expect bold pigmentation. This Face Powder is not designed to deliver a bold pigmentation. It is designed to deliver a soft, illuminating, transparent sheen to the skin. However, the pigment is buildable. The Beauty’s Touch face powder is especially can be built up for a nice blush color.

Though I have an oily skin, this Milani illuminating face powder works finely alone. It does not make me look too glowy though my face has become oily. If you worry that you may look too glowy at the end of the day, you can use it as finishing powder after applying the normal matte blush. So far, I find NO chunky sparkle from both face powder; I am not sure if Hermosa Rose (no.2) has them, as I do not own it.

I wish Milani has not claim it works as highlighter as well. It’s because I find this product works great as blush and bronzer, but not as highlighter. Do not expect this product to give the same highlighter effect such as The Balm’s Mary Lou Highlighter. However, I felt relief at the same time. It’s because I really like this Illuminating Face Powder a lot, yet highlighter is not working well on my skin. My face is always look too glowy when it starts getting oily. Therefore, it’s a great news for those who have oily skin like mine!

As mentioned above, this face powder has a subtle luminous finish. As you can see from the photo below, it looks very natural, and as if the glow lits from within; it does not look like I wear makeup at all. It’s perfect for daily makeup, or a no makeup makeup look.

The Swatches

The Packaging

Milani Illuminating Face Powder is packaged in a gold compact with transparent lid. Not only it allows us to see the shade of the products, but it compliments the beautiful flower design very well. On the lid, they printed the brand name with product’s name underneath.

On the back of the packaging, they provides more information about the product and how to use it too. For the ingredients and expiry date, you can find them behind the first sticker.
