Don’t claim yourself as Neutral or Natural girl, if you haven’t tried this Maybelline The Nudes I know some beauty bloggers has shared their thoughts about it, but why not adding one more into the pool?
I have been loving the Maybelline Color Tattoo collection. They are gorgeously pigmented and last for an arguably amazing hours too. I have been using it alone or as eyeshadow based. So, will this new palette be as amazing?
Some people may wonder, why we need more neutral shades? What’s the difference? Well, if you know or ever see a color wheel, you may know that no shades are the same. They may have similar shades, but they are still different. Just look at the color code. None of the pink or red or yellow is the same.
Mayebelline The Nude Palette
Maybelline The Nude Palette is the Maybelline’s first 12 shade collection curated to create infinite looks with bold beige, sultry sands, brazen bronzes, and taupe.
At first, I was not sure if I would like to get it, as I was initially looking for the Maybelline The Blushed Nudes. It was a very beautiful palette. I thought the shades were too gorgeous to miss. Unfortunately, the Blushed Nudes palette was still not available yet in Indonesia when I got this palette a few months ago. *But now, I have collected the all four Maybelline Nudes Palette collection. You can check the Review here: Maybelline The Blush Nudes Palette review, Maybelline The Rocked Nudes Palette review & Maybelline The 24K Nudes Palette review.

Most drugstore brands are usually offer 4 – 6 shades the most per palette. Hence, I have to admit that Maybelline has given us a good surprise. They offer us a mix of satin, frost and matte shades, all in one pack.
Each shades have different pigmentation and formula. Overall, Maybelline The Nude Palette has soft, creamy and powdery texture. However, I find the matte shades have the most chalky texture, driest and sheerest color pay off. I have to work very hard building the shades for the swatches. In contrast, the satin shades have the best pigmentation. As for the frost shade,it’s just OK.
In regards with longevity, you need to use it with eye base to make it last long enough. The top is up to 5 hours with primer. Without primer, it last up to 3 hours. Hence, I highly suggest you to apply eye primer in advance to get the most from this palette.
The Maybelline The Nudes palette consists of 12 nudes shades. It has a balance mix between mattes and shimmers.
As you can see, some of the shades are neutrals, while others are cool and warm tone.
At the back of the palette, Maybelline gives us direction on how to use the shadows. So, the shadows are arranged in quads, trios as well as duos. I find it very helpful, especially when you don’t know which look you want to go. Below is swatches per-quads.
Quads 1 is a collection of neutral shades, which are perfect for day looks.
- Shade 1 is a shimmery pinky beige shade.
- Shade 2 is a satin finish taupe shade.
- Shade 3 is a satin finish medium brown.
- Shade 4 is a matte dark brown.
Quads 2 is a collection of warm tone, bronzy shades.
- Shade 5 is matte cream.
- Shade 6 is a satin finish bronzy brown.
- Shade 7 is a shimmery gold.
- Shade 8 is a satin finish brownish burgundy.
Quads 3 is a collection of cool tone shades, packed with greyish and dark shades, which are perfect for sexy smokey eyes.
- Shade 9 is a matte greyish taupe.
- Shade 10 is a matte grey.
- Shade 11 is a shimmery cream shade.
- Shade 12 is a satin finish charcoal shade, though it appears black in the pan.
Maybelline The Nude Palette is packaged in a 12-pan black plastic case with transparent lid, which allows us to see what shades we will get before purchasing. I also find it helpful to spot the shades without opening the lid when deciding which makeup I will go for the day.
On the back, we have some information such as the ingredients, production information, and also instructions on how to get the most out of this palette. I really love the instructions idea because not everyone who purchased the products, understand how to use eyeshadow properly. So, beginners will find it super helpful.
Also, I love the size of the packaging. It is arguably travel friendly. So, it is not bulky and quite light. What’s more, it comes with a duo sponge brush, which both ends have different size. As you can see, one side is bigger – to apply the shade on the lid, while the other is smaller and more narrow – to apply shades on the corner of the eyes and to make soft line on the crease.
I have to give big thumbs up for Maybelline for working hard in designing this palette that they managed to place the shades in such manner that it can be split up as quads, trios or duos, allowing us to have heaps of fun mixing and trying looks – from simple to more complicated looks.
The only thing that turned me down in regard with the packaging is that they don’t come with mirror. It would be perfect if they attached a small mirror in the packaging. Well, it is not a big issue for me, as I don’t usually use the mirror, but I always find it helpful when I need to do touch up on the way.

Recommendation: Despite of poor pigmentation on a few shades, Maybelline The Nude palette is overall a good palette to have. If you are a new beginner, or you wanna invest on a good nude palette with affordable price, I will recommend you to get this palette, as this palette allows you to create both day and night look with just one palette. But, if you have the money to invest on high-end brand like Tarte or Too Faced, it’s much better to get them instead of this palette.
